James Eastham is a partner in the firm’s Chicago office with over 20 years of experience in insurance coverage analysis and litigation. His practice entails counseling and representing insurance companies both nationally and locally in both the first and third party context. Over the course of his career, he has obtained extensive experience in all forms of third party insurance coverage and has dealt with the full range of third party insurance issues including those involving bad faith, professional liability, construction defect, and environmental contamination.
In addition to his extensive experience in the third party arena, Jim also has considerable experience with first party property matters and has represented insurance carriers in numerous first party actions in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Apart from policy interpretation, Jim also has experience in policy drafting and has been called upon to prepare and refine a vast array of exclusionary provisions including those dealing with Chinese drywall, contracted persons, pesticides and lethal weapons. Drawing on this diverse experience counseling insurers, Jim frequently gives presentations to clients on established and emerging coverage issues.
