Marta N. Kozlowska currently concentrates in professional liability, product liability, construction defect litigation, premises liability and commercial litigation areas representing lawyers, insurance agents, corporations and municipalities in all phases of litigation. Marta has been honored by the Super Lawyers with a selection to the 2013 New Jersey Rising Star List. The Rising Star honor recognizes the top up-and-coming attorneys statewide.
As a Deputy Attorney General with New Jersey’s Division of Law, Marta represented the New Jersey Department of Education and its various entities in all aspects of litigation including issuance, revocation and suspension of teaching certificates, claims related to funding issues with regard to public and private educational institutions, and enforcement of due process orders in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, 20 U.S.C. §1400.
Prior to her assignment with the Attorney General’s office, Marta was involved in all aspects of insurance defense litigation while working for the law office of Wolf Helies Duggan Spaeth & Lucas. Her work there included defense of professional negligence, property liability, and auto liability matters.
Immediately upon graduating from Rutgers School of Law in Newark, Marta spent a year as a law clerk to the Honorable Bette E. Uhrmacher, J.S.C. at Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey, where she prepared legal memoranda on all civil issues and acted as an intermediary between the Judge and members of the BAR.
While at Rutgers School of Law, Marta was actively involved in the Constitutional Litigation Clinic and Urban Legal Clinic providing variety of legal assistance to indigent clients. Marta also served as a 1L Student Representative and as one of the board members for the Rutgers Student Lawyer’s Guild.
Marta is an avid equestrian hobbyist and is currently a member of the New Jersey Horse Council, an statewide organization which promotes the interest of the horse industry throughout the State of New Jersey.
