An associate in the firm’s Chicago office, Philip Brandt brings his extensive coverage experience and well-developed trial and appellate advocacy skills to the representation of insurers across several lines and in all manner of disputes. Phil’s clients appreciate his ability to carefully listen and understand their concerns, his accessibility, and his talent for crafting powerful oral and written arguments on their behalf.
Before joining the firm, Phil spent six years representing insurance industry clients in declaratory judgment actions and appeals. He protects the interests of carriers providing general, commercial general, and professional liability coverage, as well as those offering errors and omissions, directors and officers, homeowners, condominium, and personal and business auto policies. As part of his appellate practice, Phil has submitted briefs and argued in the Illinois Appellate Court and has written briefs in the Illinois Supreme Court and United State Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Phil is a graduate of Augustana College and earned his law degree from The John Marshall Law School, where he now teaches as an adjunct professor. Following law school, Phil served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Justice Robert E. Gordon of the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, where he prepared court opinions and Illinois Supreme Court Rule 23 dispositive orders. He enjoys his time away from the office traveling with his wife, Danielle, as well as running, with the goal of participating in a half-marathon in every state.
