An associate in the firm’s Chicago office, Tara McTague focuses her practice on insurance defense, insurance coverage, and excess insurance monitoring.
Tara is an experienced trial lawyer who recognizes that there are many roads that lead to positive outcomes for her insurance industry clients. Tara’s professionalism, excellent advocacy skills, attention to detail, and thorough analysis help her find the best path in each case she handles, whether it be an early resolution through settlement or a hard-fought trial. Her professional achievements have earned her recognition as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2016, 2017 and 2018, a designation given to only 2.5% of attorneys in Illinois each year.
She represents insureds in a broad spectrum of defense matters in both state and federal court, including civil rights, municipal and police liability matters, medical malpractice, and legal malpractice claims. Tara develops and implements effective defense strategies and handles all phases of litigation, including responding to complaints, drafting and answering discovery, engaging in motion practice and participating in mediations and/or settlement conferences.
Tara also represents insurance carriers and insureds in a wide range of coverage matters involving several lines of insurance, including commercial general liability, commercial umbrella/excess, commercial auto, commercial property, directors and officers, and professional liability policies. Defending clients against bad faith claims as well, Tara also prepares coverage opinions and protects her clients’ interests in coverage suits in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels.
A graduate of Northern Illinois University who earned her law degree from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Tara enjoys spending her time away from the office with her family.
