Tara Short is an associate in the firm’s St. Petersburg office, keen on providing exceptional representation with the goal of producing favorable results for clients. She focuses her practice on insurance defense litigation, including first-party property claims, third-party liability claims, insurance coverage disputes and premises and product liability claims.
A Maryland native, Tara earned her B.A. in English and Political Science from Indiana University at Bloomington. Prior to attending law school, Tara worked as a Federal Contractor for the Armed Forces Medical Examiner’s office in the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory, where she administered a DoD Quality Assurance Inspection Contract, responded to FOIA and other litigation requests, and obtained her A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies. She then moved to Western New York where she graduated cum laude from State University of New York at Buffalo Law School and obtained her M.P.H. in Health Administration.
Prior to joining Traub Lieberman, Tara practiced law in New York state, handling Medicare secondary payer, Medicaid and subrogation claims for auto, bodily injury, premises liability, and workers compensation. She then moved to Florida, where she obtained a position with the General Counsel office of a worker’s compensation insurance carrier. There, she handled all aspects of business law ranging from mergers & acquisitions, contracts, capital raising, intellectual property, promissory and collateral security agreements, and managed collateral security accounts and contracts. She also gained experience conducting privilege and QC document review for mass environmental litigation actions, premerger Hart-Scott-Rodino Anti-Trust notifications, and other Class Action litigation.
