For Jessica Burtnett, a Partner in the firm’s Chicago office, her success in complex litigation is built upon a solid foundation of thorough investigation, meticulous preparation, and strategic creativity. Focusing her practice in general liability, professional liability, and commercial litigation, Jessica provides her clients with clear-eyed and understandable counsel that allows them to make fully informed decisions about a given matter.

A significant part of Jessica’s practice involves handling products liability, commercial trucking, and premises liability claims on behalf of national clients and numerous captive members, both as a named preferred on insurance policies and on a non-insurance basis as national counsel. Jessica also regularly handles professional liability matters and has substantial experience representing individuals and companies across a range of professions, such as medical providers and facilities, law firms and attorneys, real estate brokers, and insurance companies.

Jessica has extensive experience litigating commercial matters, including breach of contract and breach of warranty. Her tort work includes premises liability, construction litigation, automobile negligence, fraud, defamation-based torts, and employers’ liability. Jessica has also represented foreign-based multinational corporations and leading manufacturers involved in litigation in state and federal courts across the country and has overseen matters in British Columbia and Ontario, Canada.

With a comprehensive understanding of e-discovery in complex litigation (both domestic and international), Jessica routinely counsels her clients on the development and implementation of electronic document retention policies. She has also directed the investigation of many catastrophic losses throughout the country to gather critical evidence and protect her clients’ interests.

After graduating, cum laude, from Kansas State University, Jessica earned her law degree, cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. When not serving clients, Jessica enjoys spending time with her young family exploring all that the city of Chicago has to offer.
