On Thursday, February 2, 2017, more than one hundred children and their parents participated in the second annual 15th Judicial Circuit Courthouse’s Take Your Child to Work Day.
Parents and children were able to experience a mock trial, learn the importance of following rules through different activities, watch Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office canine demonstrations, and meet Chief Judge Jeffrey Colbath, and Circuit Court Judges Samantha Schosberg Feuer, Lisa Small, Meenu Sasser, Peter Blanc and Edward Artau. State Attorney Dave Aronberg, Commissioner Dave Kerner, and Felony Division Chief Daniel Eisinger spoke to the children at a luncheon. The kids toured the inside of the county TV station and the historic courthouse and met Mayor Jeri Muoio and Vice Mayor Melissa McKinlay.
In a written statement Working Parents Chair of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers Rina Clemens, an attorney at Traub Lieberman Straus & Shrewsberry LLP and one of the event organizers said, “We are so thankful that so many people were able to give their time to help make this day so special for the kids. We are especially grateful to the judiciary and local government officials who showed our kids how positive government participation and service can be.”
The event was sponsored by the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, the Young Lawyers Division of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Hispanic Bar Association, and the F. Malcolm Cunningham Bar Association.
