AREAS OF FOCUS

Insurance Coverage
Jason’s primary focus is on evaluating and analyzing a wide range of insurance coverage issues under primary, umbrella, and excess liability policies to advise clients on matters such as carriers’ duty to defend, contribution and indemnification, priority of coverage, allocation of defense costs or liability, and other insurance issues. Such analysis regularly addresses the scope of policy terms, conditions, and exclusions in complex, multi-faceted claims so that our clients can meet their contractual obligations, while minimizing their financial risk. Jason’s Insurance Coverage practice also includes representing National insurance carriers in coverage litigation in Illinois and across the United States.

Bad Faith and Extra Contractual
Jason has significant experience in counseling clients throughout the claims and litigation process to help ensure that bad faith or extra contractual claims do not arise, and vigorously challenging any bad faith allegations as early as possible in the event they do arise.

Cyber Risk, Tech. & Data Security
As the frequency and size of data breaches, network security violations, and social engineering fraud has grown, so has the need and use of specialized cyber and professional liability insurance coverage. To meet the needs of clients in this evolving field, Jason’s practice also includes representing insurance companies in complex claim disputes and declaratory judgment actions involving the interpretation of standalone cyber policies and endorsements affording data breach coverage.

Professional Liability Insurance Coverage
Jason has significant experience counseling and advising clients in matters of professional liability, E&O, D&O, and cyber-related insurance risks. Jason and the firm’s professional liability insurance coverage practice focuses on policy interpretation and advising clients in a wide range of professional liability coverage matters such as claims-made and reported issues, related claims, defense and contribution, priority of coverage, policy exclusions, as well as representing insurance carriers in complex claim disputes and declaratory judgment actions.

General Liability Insurance Coverage
Jason’s general liability insurance coverage practice includes advising and representing both primary and excess carriers in claims involving construction defect litigation, defamation and advertising injury liability, complex bodily injury and property damage claims, contractual indemnity, allocation and priority of coverage, and contribution.
