Stephen Straus' practice includes the defense of products liability actions and construction site injury and damage cases in state and federal courts. He has tried numerous such actions to verdict. Mr. Straus also regularly provides manufacturers and insurers with loss prevention and risk management advice and services.
The defense of errors and omissions cases involving various professional disciplines, including attorneys, accountants, brokers and agents, also comprises a significant aspect of Mr. Straus' practice. He has tried many professional malpractice cases to verdict.
Mr. Straus also represents insurers on a national scale in all manner of coverage disputes. This entails providing legal opinions concerning complex insurance coverage issues, to appearing as counsel of record in coverage litigation. Mr. Straus has tried numerous high exposure insurance coverage actions to verdict. Mr. Straus has also appeared as counsel in the arbitration of disputes between insurers and reinsurers.
Mr. Straus' has been lead attorney in many reported decisions rendered in actions venued throughout the country. Such decisions are reported in state and federal court reporters and can be supplied upon request.
Mr. Straus has written on various legal topics. His article entitled, "Classifying RI/FS Costs Under a Policy of Comprehensive General Liability Insurance: Indemnity or Defense?", Fordham Environmental Law Journal, was cited with distinction by the New Jersey Supreme Court in the case of General Accident Ins. Co. of America v. State of New Jersey Dept. of Environmental Protection, 143 N.J. 462, 672 A.2d 1154 (1996).
Mr. Straus received his Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law in 1986. He graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1982. Mr. Straus was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1987.
