Remembering Traub Lieberman Founding Partner Eileen Eglin

Eileen B. Eglin, age 67, of Andes, New York passed away on July 20, 2022, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Sarah Lewis, with whom she shared a blessed 23 years together. Eileen was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Mary and Marvin Eglin, and she graduated from Franklin & Marshall College and New York Law School, with honors and distinction. She had a remarkable career as a respected attorney, and was one of the first women to break into the partnership ranks of the New York City law firm she joined as a young lawyer. Eileen’s vision led her to found a new law firm, Traub Eglin Lieberman Straus, in 1996, where she put her ardor of diversity and inclusion into practice. She helped lead the new firm into national recognition until she retired in 2005, to begin a new chapter with Sarah in Andes, New York. At their upstate farm, they built a home surrounded by all of the beautiful nature of the Catskills, where they could focus on their love of animals, music, literature, and art. Eileen was especially proud of the garden she planned and built for Sarah, where they spent a lot of time together and with their beloved dogs over the years.

In addition to Sarah (and their dog Finty), Eileen is survived by her sister Diana Eglin and her brother and his wife Robin and Joy Eglin, her nieces, extended family, and all the friends who loved her. She will also be sorely missed by her colleagues from the law, who have carried on the legacy of the firm she founded. Funeral services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to New York Law School, where an endowed scholarship has been established in her memory. www.nyls.edu/eglinscholarship
