Jessica’s practice primarily focuses on insurance defense, and she routinely represents insureds in a wide range of liability disputes, including personal injury, trucking accidents, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, products liability and general commercial matters. She also has extensive experience providing carriers with sound and insightful coverage advice on a wide range of lines and policies and routinely acts as monitoring counsel where she provides liability and exposure advice for multimillion–dollar claims.
An experienced litigator and associate in the firm’s Chicago office, Jessica obtains positive resolutions for her clients through a combination of skilled advocacy, early and detailed analysis of the facts and issues, and thorough preparation. Jessica’s practice primarily focuses on insurance defense. She also has experience advising clients on insurance coverage issues, and excess monitoring.
In her role as defense counsel, Jessica routinely represents insureds in a wide range of liability disputes, including personal injury, trucking accidents, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, products liability and general commercial matters. Jessica’s insurance defense work includes investigating and defending against the claims made against her clients by handling all phases of litigation, including responding to complaints, drafting and answering discovery, taking and defending depositions, and engaging in motion practice.
Committed to candid, transparent client communication, Jessica also has experience providing carriers with sound and insightful coverage advice on a wide range of lines and policies. Jessica’s coverage background includes policy interpretation, bad faith and extra-contractual liability issues, and handling declaratory judgment actions in state and federal courts. She is also often called to act as trial monitoring counsel for excess insurers in high-exposure cases and routinely advises clients on potential liability and the exposure values in multimillion–dollar cases.
Prior to joining the firm, Jessica served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Kathleen Pantle in the Circuit Court of Cook County, General Chancery Division. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Jessica earned her law degree from The John Marshall Law School, where she served as Executive Lead Articles Editor on the John Marshall Law Review and as a Research Assistant for Associate Dean Ralph Ruebner. In this capacity, she supplied research for the Illinois Supreme Court Special Committee on Illinois Evidence, which codified the first set of Illinois Rules of Evidence.
Jessica was named a Super Lawyers® Rising Star in 2019, a designation given to only 2.5% of attorneys in Illinois each year. When not serving her clients, Jessica enjoys spending her time with family and friends and cheering for Michigan sports and the Chicago Cubs.
