This is a part time position, with opportunities for fall/winter or year-round placement. The successful candidate will have superior communication, writing, and research skills and possess a keen attention to detail. The ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines is paramount to success within this position.

The Law Clerk will assist Partners and Associates in all phases of litigation, gaining hands-on experience and often working one-on-one with attorneys. The Law Clerk will conduct medical records review, prepare medical record and deposition summaries, prepare and respond to discovery responses, assist with online research, and provide motion and trial support.

Job responsibilities include analysis of insurance policies and application of contractual wording to claim facts in the areas of general liability (torts), construction defect, products liability, environmental, employment practices, first party (automotive and homeowners), professional liability, and more. Ability to pinpoint issues and research the law in multiple jurisdictions is crucial, as is the desire and ability to analyze complex fact patterns and generate clear, concise written work product. The successful candidate will be expected to generate detailed reports, opinion letters, and correspondence, as well as litigation work product (pleadings and motions, discovery, and appeals), largely in the area of declaratory judgment practice. Approximately 25 percent of the successful candidate’s work will relate to direct defense of underlying tort cases, primarily premises liability and automotive. The candidate will have opportunities to appear at case management conferences, mediations, pre-trial settlement conferences, and depositions.
